Kirloskar Brothers extends support for Kerala flood relief measures

  • Hands over three Autoprime pumpsets to Kerala Government Authority/KPWDs) for immediate dewatering post-floods.
  • Sets up free pump servicing camps and door-to-door visit for pumps repair.
  • Commits workforce to work on-ground with local authorities.

As the state of Kerala prepares to address the post-flood relief initiatives, Kirloskar Brothers (KBL) has extended support to the Kerala Government with three dedicated high-capacity Autoprime pumpsets to help in the massive dewatering operation. The pumpsets were recently handed over to G Sudhakaran, Minister for Public Works Department (PWD). Also present at the occasion were S Suhas, District Collector, Alappuzha, and Haranbabu, Executive Engineer (Irrigation), Kerala. In addition, KBL is conducting free service camps in many flood-affected districts of Kerala to repair any existing faulty and non-operational pumps of local residents and has made ground staff available to work with the local authorities. With many areas still clogged, immediate dewatering becomes extremely critical to limit the spread of various diseases and epidemic.

These high-flow Kirloskar Autoprime pumpsets, each with a capacity of discharging approximately 285 litres per sec, together, are capable of draining around 30 lakh litres of water per hour. The pump sets will contribute and are contributing in normalising the critically affected areas like airports, railway stations, low-lying areas, major roads, and highways, etc (one of the pumps is being used for draining water in Alappuzha district in Kerala). Besides, an additional Autoprime pump with a discharge capacity of 300,000 litres per hour has been kept ready for draining flood water at Kochi Airport.

Previously, KBL has supplied more than 150 such Autoprime pump sets to various municipal corporations, airports, and industries across India. In addition, KBL has also supplied specialised dewatering pumping solutions for flood-like situations in other Indian cities and countries as well.
