Konkan Railway to get new stations? Check out the list

By December 2019, the Konkan Railway Corporation plans on completing the construction of 10 new station. Of the 10 stations, two stations, namely Mirjan and Innanje are in Karnataka. Besides eight loop lines along its network, it is constructing new railway stations at Indapur, Goregoan Road, Sape Wamane, Kalbani, Kadwai, Verawali, Kharepatan, Achirne, Mirjan and Innanje.

Besides, Margao, Thivim and Karmali stations of the Konkon Railway in Goa will be undergoing a facelift as the Union Ministry of Tourism has approved Rs 250 million for the upgradation.

In order to increase the goods loading activity, the Konkan Railway is siding for Mangolre Refinery and Petrochemicals in Mangaluru as well.

According to its release, not only the work on doubling of the 46 km stretch between Roha and Veer is expected to be finished by December 2019 but also the electrification of the entire Konkan Railway route worth Rs 11 billion. For the execution of the ongoing projects and capacity augmentation of the route, the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned to raise the authorised equity share capital of the Konkan Railway from Rs 8.06 to Rs 40 billion.

On October 15, the Konkan Railway Corporation celebrated its 28th foundation day and for FY2017-18, it achieved a net profit of Rs 1.26 billion. The net profit was double as compared to last fiscal?s. The project revenue of Konkan Railway has registered a significant growth during the year. Furthermore, the company recorded a turnover of Rs 24.83 billion during 201-18 and a growth of 15 per cent has been observed as compared to the previous financial year. Under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development scheme on the Konkan Railway route in Goa, it stated that various passenger amenities work of Rs 55.8 million has been finished.
