GAIL India to add 5,500 km gas pipeline

In order to boost its capacity by 50 per cent in the coming three years, GAIL India plans on adding 5,500 km gas pipeline. BC Tripathi stated that while GAIL India?s current annual gas marketing portfolio comprises of 14 million tonne, the company has booked 1.5 million tonne a year regassification capacity at the Dhamra LNG terminal in Odisha. India plans to raise its share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15 per cent in the next few years from about 6.5 per cent as the world?s third-biggest oil importer and consumer and wants to cut its massive import bill and reduce its carbon footprint.
