Citing the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddi Corridor as the smartest expressway in the world and among the longest in the country, Fadnavis reportedly said that his government is trying to make 22 smart cities along this expressway, which will provide a huge boost to the economic growth. Moreover, this expressway will connect 24 districts to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) near Mumbai.
At an estimated Rs 492.5 billion, the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg (also known as the Super Communication Expressway) is expected to be 700-km-long and will pass through 392 villages, spread across 11 districts. The project is expected to be completed in four years. Besides, work on the 22-km-long Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), said to be the longest sea bridge in the country, already commenced. The Maharashtra Government is also working on building a coastal road from Nariman Point to Worli, and a sea link from Versova to Virar.
