HCC-HDC JV bags the Rs 21.26-billion Mumbai Coastal Road contract. All you need to know about the project here!

For design and construction of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) Package-2, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has awarded a Rs 21.26 billion contract to Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and Hyundai Development Corporation (HDC) in a JV. <p></p> <p>Commenting on the new order, <span style="font-weight: bold;">Arjun Dhawan, Director and Group CEO, HCC,</span> said, 'The Mumbai Coastal Road will have a real impact on the lives of Mumbaikars by decongesting inner city roads and dramatically reducing travel time, while improving air quality around residential neighbourhoods.'</p> <p>'For HCC, this prestigious and technically-challenging project is a matter of immense pride and a natural extension of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link constructed by it,'</p> <p>Earlier this year, this JV had emerged as the front-runner in the tender for this package of the coastal road project. The scope of work includes design and construction of road, bridges, interchanges including reclamation and associated works between Baroda Palace near Haji Ali and the Worli-end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.</p> <p>MCGM has envisaged the MCRP along the western seafront of the city to decongest existing roads. This project intends to connect Marine Drive in the south to Kandivali in the north. It comprises of tunnels, roads on reclaimed land, roads on stilts and bridges with interchanges planned at strategic locations for dispersal of traffic.</p> <p>MCRP will cut down travel time of commuters by as much as 60 per cent and the dedicated bus rapid transit system (BRTS) lanes will facilitate public transport, leading to fuel savings. </p> <p>The section from Baroda Palace to the Worli-end of the existing Bandra-Worli Sea Link is one of the three packages of the first phase of the MCRP.</p> <p></p>
