In order to ease the traffic in north-south, east-west and central parts of the city, the state government has decided to go ahead with the construction of corridors. The total length of the first phase of the corridor is expected to be 102.04 km, and the project is expected to commence in January 2019 and complete by 2021.
For the present year, Rs 10 billion has been allocated for the project, and a thorough examination of the presentation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been conducted. Ensuring that the public property has not been affected, the project had been reportedly decided to go in for four-lane roads at places where it may affect people and six-lane in the remaining places. Interlinks between corridor and metro line and double-decker model at few places are expected to be adopted.
Besides, to decongest city roads, the state cabinet is expected to bear the land acquisition cost of about Rs 45 billion for the 65-km peripheral ring road, estimated to come up at a cost of about Rs 170 billion.
