Delhi?s CCTV project gets clearance

To ensure safety and security across the capital, the Delhi Government has approved Rs 5.71 bn for the installation of CCTV cameras. In the first phase, 1.4 lakh cameras will reportedly be installed. The PWD has given administrative approval and expenditure sanctions of Rs 5.71 bn, of which Rs 3.20 bn is expected to be the capital cost, while Rs 2.50 bn will be set aside for five years for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of CCTV cameras and other allied infrastructure at various places in Delhi.
