We try to produce more in India

Trelleborg India showcased latest sealing solutions such as the Z25 polyurethane seal for high temperature applications in Off Highway segment. Ranjan Sen, Managing Director, shares more on the company's plans and market outlook...

One pathbreaking offering: Our knowledge of sealing material, knowledge of engineering and knowledge of application is what we offer to the customers. Demand drivers in 2019: If you look at mobile hydraulics, all the cylinders, final drives or idlers in excavators and gearboxes, are the major demand drivers. Also in the backhoe loaders, the axle seals are very important.

Announcement contributing to the company's growth in 2018: We have commissioned a plant in Bengaluru at a different location, so that has given us additional capacity. We have also increased the capacity of our existing plant. Today this plant is probably 50 per cent more than what it was 2-3 years back.

Challenge for the company in 2019: There has been a duty increase on some of our products which can hit our business. So, the cost escalation is a challenge and we don¦t want to pass on the price increase to the customer unless it is absolutely essential. Key strategy to success in 2019: As a company, we want to be in those applications which are demanding and where failure is not an option. We are also trying to produce more in India so that the customer has the benefit of local supply chain.

Recommendation for the construction equipment market growth: The construction equipment market depends a lot on government investment and also on the leasing activity. Recently we saw a lot of leasing disturbance. So I would like the construction segment to be robust and brining new technology and bigger machines to India.
