XIX International Coal Preparation Congress

Representing India's commitment to environment, Coal Preparation Society of India (CPSI) is a non-profit, non-government professional body having members from coal, power, iron and steel sectors and their allied industries. CPSI acts as a facilitator in policy formulation, an effective and independent platform for deliberating various issues on preparation and utilisation of coal. Its global network encompasses, World Coal Association (WCA), International Energy Agency (IEA) Clean Coal Centre, coal preparation societies of major coal producing countries and the International Organizing Committee (IOC) of the International Coal Preparation Congress (ICPC).

This year, CPSI is hosting the XIX International Coal Preparation Congress (ICPC) on November 13-15, 2019 at New Delhi. This prestigious global congress on Coal has come back to India after 37 years. The last one was the 9th congress in 1982 in New Delhi. We in CPSI feel honoured to organise this prestigious international congress.

The goals of the XIX International Coal Preparation Congress are:

  • To ensure the growth and development of the coal preparation industry, support and promotion of scientific and technical cooperation among all countries;

  • To facilitate the exchange of information about the state-of-art technologies, economics and environmental safety in the field of coal mining, preparation, transportation of coal and new emerging technologies in the area of environment friendly and low emission coal; and

  • To bring together experts from different countries in order to form professional contacts, exchange experimental results and promote international cooperation.

Spanning across 3 days and 20 parallel sessions of presentations and discussions; the main topics to be covered in the XIX ICPC are listed below:

  • Coal resources & industry overview
  • Coal prep plant design, new/ adaptations
  • Coking coal processing-problems/ challenges.
  • Deep coal processing, gravity concentration
  • Fine coal treatment, flotation and allied technologies
  • Dry coal separation
  • Crushing, grinding, sizing and screening
  • Sampling and quality control, recent developments
  • Waste management and allied issues.
  • Environment, climate change, HELE, CO2 emissions.
  • Coal gasification, coal to chemicals, enhanced coal energy.
  • Automation, controls and IT applications.

In this prestigious global event on coal, participation of over 450 delegates, presenters and speakers, including some 120 from abroad is expected. Concurrently, an Exhibition, with more than 30 Indian and International companies participating; would be introducing coal preparation technologies and equipments; thus providing an opportunity for all the companies and entities operating in coal and its allied industries, to see and examine the latest coal technologies. From this perspective, participation of companies and subject experts from companies having interest in upstream and downstream areas / activities related to coal preparation and its allied services would play an effective role in achieving the goal of the Congress.
