German cos keen on Bengal underground mines

German mining majors have evinced interest to explore underground mining in West Bengal. A 12-member team from 10 German engineering and mining companies met the representatives of the Bengal government and the West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL) in Kolkata and expressed their willingness to spruce up the mining sector here. The government laid more emphasis on stepping up productivity and safety of miners in the state.

The delegates interacted with the representatives of 10 city-based companies dealing in mining and engineering sectors to know about the market requirements.
