Italian construction equipment market up in 2019

According to the last Unacea survey on the Italian market, in 2019, as many as 16,927 construction equipment have been sold on the Italian market, 16 per cent more compared to that of 2018. The sales figures consist of 16,311 earthmoving machines (+15 per cent), and 616 road equipment (+23 per cent).

Looking at the foreign trade, Italian export of construction equipment between January and October 2019 reached ?2.5 billion, stable compared to last year (+1 per cent). According to the last Samoter Outlook carried by Prometeia, it grew the export of concrete equipment (+13.8 per cent) and of crushing and screening machines (+7.8 per cent).

Exports were stable for drilling equipment (+1.1 per cent) and earthmoving machines (-0.7 per cent), but were down for tower cranes (-10 per cent) and road machines (-15 per cent) while imports saw a double-digit growth (+13 per cent), reaching ?0.92 billion. Trade balance surplus amounts to ?1.5 billion, even if loss 4.9 per cent compared to that of 2018
