REC Joins Hands with TajSATS to Provide Meals to Frontline Healthcare Workers

REC, a central PSU under Ministry of Power and one of the country?s leading power financiers, has spearheaded an initiative to provide meals to the medical staff in key government hospitals as well as poor daily wage labourers across the nation.

REC Foundation, the CSR arm of REC Ltd, has partnered with the aviation catering firm TajSATS to distribute specially-made nutritious meal packets for medical staff in Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. Every day, 300 food packets are being delivered as a gesture of gratitude to the frontline healthcare warriors of the city. Over 18,000 meals are expected to be delivered through this initiative.

At the same time, REC in collaboration with various district authorities, NGOs and electricity distribution companies is already providing cooked meals and ration to the needy across the nation. This initiative was started when the country went under a nation-wide lockdown on March 24 for containment of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of May 24, the corporation had distributed more than 458,000 kilos of food grains, 126,0000 meal packets, 9,600 litres of sanitisers, 3,400 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits and 83,000 masks.
