Indian Railways Floats Revised Tender for 44 Semi-high Speed Vande Bharat Trains Sets

The Indian Railways has floated the revised tender for the semi-high speed 44 Vande Bharat trains sets. The tender is for three-phase propulsion, control and other equipment, along with bogies for trains Sets.

Asia?s second-largest rail transporter will be organising a pre-bid meeting on September 29. The tender will be opened on November 11.

The main features of the tender entail that the train sets shall be manufactured at Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala and Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli, that it shall be a local or indigenous tender and will involve a two-stage reverse auction.

The revised tender is In line with the Government of India?s preference for Make in India policy, where the minimum local content percentage has been revised to 75 per cent.

It is the first big tender under the revised Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) norms of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Being a domestic tender, only the firms registered in India can apply and will have to submit their quotation in Indian rupees.
