SCI Releases Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Logo

The country?s largest shipping company, the Shipping Corp. of India (SCI) has unveiled the logo of its diamond jubilee celebrations. Created by an SCI employee, the logo commemorates the 59 glorious years of the company that started as a marginal shipping liner with just 19 vessels in 1961.

Union Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge) & Chemical & Fertilisers, Mansukh Mandaviya virtually launched SCI?s diamond jubilee celebrations on the occasion of its foundation day on October 2.

Speaking on the occasion, Mandaviya congratulated SCI for completing 59 glorious years to enter into its 60th year. He also praised the financial performance of the company and said that SCI?s growth meant India?s growth. Mandaviya added as the company?s foundation day coincided with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the company must move towards becoming Aatmanirbhar or self-reliant as ?the Father of the Nation? had always emphasised on it.

SCI has substantial interests in various segments of the shipping trade. Its fleet includes bulk carriers, crude oil tankers, product tankers, container vessels, passenger-cum-cargo vessels, phosphoric acid and chemical carriers, liquified petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, and offshore supply vessels.

In its six decades of operations, SCI has made a significant presence on the global maritime map. As the country?s leading shipping line, SCI owns and operates around one-third of the Indian tonnage and has operating interests in practically all areas of the shipping business, servicing both national and international trades.

Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, HK Joshi, Chairman & Managing Director, SCI, senior officials from the Ministry of Shipping, current and retired employees of the company along with their family members also attended the event.
