Projects worth Rs 71.95 billion to be launched in Ayodhya

Nearly half a dozen highway and infrastructure projects worth Rs 71.95 billion are expected to be launched in Ayodhya. The projects will include the improvement of 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg and the Ram Van Gaman Marg. Also, foundation stone will be reportedly laid for five national highway projects with a total length of 632 km. The projects will establish direct connectivity from Ayodhya to Chitrakoot and Ambedkarnagar.

The Ayodhya Ring Road will reportedly reduce traffic congestion in the city and lower pollution levels and is also expected to facilitate pilgrimage and give a boost to tourism in the Ayodhya and Varanasi regions.

Reportedly, Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath will be laying the foundation stone for all the projects in Ayodhya. The projects were planned earlier in 2015. In the first phase, nearly 91 km of the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg of 250 km is expected to be expanded to four-lanes. The four-laning of the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg is estimated at Rs 8.96 billion.

This route is mainly used by pilgrims for completing the tour around the city. The 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg and the Ram Van Gaman Marg project have religious significance for pilgrims who visit the holy city in Uttar Pardesh. It is also suggested for developing this stretch as a national highway.

Besides, construction of around 48 km stretch of Ayodhya-Chitrakoot of the Ram Van Gaman Marg is expected to commence. The Ram Van Gaman Marg provides connectivity to Janakpur in Nepal.

The projects also include beautification of Ayodhya section of Lucknow-Ayodhya highway for Rs 550 million, four-laning of Ayodhya-Akbarpur section of Ayodhya-Varanasi highway (Rs 10.81 billion), construction of 46 km, four-lane Ayodhya Ring Road (Rs 12.89 billion), 44 km Mohanganj-Shringverpur section of the Ram Vangaman Marg (Rs 4.78 billion) and 91 km Bikapur-Rudauli-Murtihanghat section of Ayodhya's 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg (Rs 8.96 billion).
