Mumbai re-auditing says six more bridges are dangerous, here?s more

While the earlier audit undertaken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had suggested 11 bridges in the suburbs of Mumbai that are dangerous and need to be demolished, six more have now been added to this list. The count of road-over-bridges and foot-over-bridges in the suburbs that need to be demolished now stand at 17.

The tragic incident of the Mumbai CST foot-over-bridge collapse had called for a re-auditing of bridges in India?s financial capital. The earlier audit of 150 bridges in the city?s western suburbs and 64 in its eastern suburbs was reportedly undertaken by two consultants. Of the 11 which have been suggested to be demolished, five fall in the eastern suburb while six in the western suburb. The BMC has yet to appoint an agency to re-audit the bridges in the island city. It is known to be examining the report of the suburban re-audits.
