47 mobile clinics to be launched for construction workers in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu will soon be launching 47 mobile clinics at Rs 180.28 million to cater to construction workers in the state. This announcement was reportedly made by the state?s Labour Welfare Minister Nilofar Kafeel at a function on March 1.

The districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur already have operational mobile clinics. It is known that over 88,000 construction workers have benefited from the mobile clinics service so far. Considering this, another 47 such clinics will be launched.

In the 2020-21 Budget, Rs 200 million has been allocated for distributing safety gadgets to 1 lakh construction workers in the state.
Currently, 23,918 workers in Tamil Nadu, employed in the construction sector, have registered with the Construction Workers Welfare Board.
