NHAI to set up 500 oxygen plants across India

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will execute the construction work for establishing around 500 medical oxygen plants across districts in the country.

The government has assigned this work to NHAI to quicken the implementation of the oxygen plants considering its pan-India presence.

Sources told the media that the highways authority held a detailed meeting of all its regional officers on Tuesday and they have been asked to give orders to all field officers to identify the locations and commence the work as soon as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) asks them to start the construction work.

A source said that the construction work would not take more than two weeks if there is no requirement for reinforced concrete structure (RCC). Given the condition of having the RCC structure, it might extend up to at least a month.

Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari tweeted that engineers would work with the doctors to supply oxygen to the needy patients. Like the record speed in roads, infrastructural construction would be done at record speed to save the life of every citizen.

Some of the significant highway construction companies have also asked their employees to make this work a top priority and complete them as fast as possible.
