Punjab Govt approves development projects to boost infra
The Punjab Government has sanctioned development projects including Phase-3 of the urban environment improvement program (UEIP) worth Rs 500 crore and the development of Ranjit Sagar Dam Lake worth Rs 450 crore. The decision was taken at an executive committee (EC) meeting of the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB).
The approval of UEIP Phase-3 worth Rs 500 crore focuses on upgrading the infrastructure across the 167 urban local bodies.
A special component programme was approved by the committee with funding of Rs 250 crore by the PIDB for other urban development activities.
Ranjit Sagar Dam Lake in Pathankot worth Rs 450 crore would be developed as an international standard tourist destination on the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
EC ordered the PIDB to begin the bidding process of this project soon. The committee has decided to take up three road projects costing Rs 53.23 crore to improve road connectivity in the state.
Both the state-level bodies also passed a proposal to develop an old Public Works Department (PWD) building at Mall Road in Patiala as a heritage hotel.
They guided the PIDB to start the process on the project as soon as possible.
