V Suresh, Chairman, IGBC, told the media that this collaboration will help India solidify its leadership position in the global green building map by setting new global benchmarks in environmentally sensitive building design, energy, environmental management and resource conservation. IGBC will collaborate closely with the IIA team in order to facilitate projects aimed at making workplaces greener, smarter, and healthier.
India is one of the top three countries in the world in terms of the registered green building footprint, with over 6,548 projects registered with the IGBC totalling 7.83 billion sq ft.
Raju told the media, the development of sustainable buildings and infrastructure is urgently needed. This Memorandum of Understanding will contribute significantly to the development of a built environment that is in line with green building practices and concepts.
The plan is to work in the areas of research related to hand holding the projects, architectural design, creating awareness, and outreach programmes.
