The construction of the Bengaluru-Mysuru 10 lane expressway is expected to be completed by February 2022. The total length of the expressway is around 117 km and is constructed into two packages.

Amid this India has already set a record for highway construction as it has exceeded the target of 11,000 km in the current fiscal year.

The construction work for the two packages started in May and December 2019, respectively. Construction of 56 km of the road from Bengaluru to Nidagatta is going on under package 1. Whereas, 61 km of the road from Nidagatta to Mysuru is being constructed under package 2.

Around 67.5% of work is completed in Package 1, and 50.5% of work is completed in Package 2 by April end.

Construction of the 10-lane expressway between Bengaluru and Mysuru includes by-pass roads for Bidadi, Ramanagara, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya, and Srirangapatna. The highway comprises a six-lane access-controlled carriageway for traffic and a two-lane service road on each side to benefit the local traffic.

Construction of the expressway is done by Dilip Buildcon Ltd with an outlay of Rs 7,400 crore and the project is expected to be completed by February 2022. The expressway will decrease the travel time between Mysuru and Bengaluru from 180 minutes to 90 minutes.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), 1,470 km of national highways have been constructed in the last two months in India. The national highway construction in the country is on rapid growth and has increased construction by more than 73%.
