Thiruvananthapuram corp to work on files in need of CRZ clearance

To provide service delivery to the public, the Thiruvananthapuram municipal corporation will compile applications for residential construction below 120 sq m.

These applications have pending clearances or no-objection certificates (NOC) from other government bodies. The processing of the applications received to the town planning adalat will be completed in the same manner.

Residents in Vizhinjam often complain about the delay in getting coastal regulation zone (CRZ) clearance for residential buildings. The town planning authority received nearly 14 applications for which CRZ clearance is compulsory for issuing the building permit on Tuesday.

The corporation would process the application as per the respective zonal offices, and awareness would also be created among the applicants for submitting the building applications. A nodal officer will also be appointed for the initiative.

The secretary of the civic body, Binu Francis, told the media that when someone applies individually, they have to face delays and difficulties even if the house is small with nominal space. Due to this, the civic body will compile the applications based on zonal offices and submit the compiled files to the authorities for clearances.

Mayor Arya Rajendra said that the heads of the standing committee and the officials, along with engineers, will supervise the processing of the applications. He further added that the date would be assigned for pending application clearances from CRZ or zonal offices. It will also remove the intermediates who misguide the applicants.

Earlier, the civic body was assigned a task with the process of clearing the applications for the construction of dwellings in CRZ-2 after the district level coastal zone department would submit several applications for the analysis by the corporation secretary.

Airports NOC, clearances from regional towns for the constructions in green zones, and consent from neighbours are some of the other files which will be processed in the same manner.
