Villages in Palghar to give up land for MAHSR bullet train project

Land acquisition for the National High-Speed Rail Corporation?s (NHSRCL) Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is in the works with 12 villages in Palghar district have passed resolutions through their gram sabhas to give up land for the project under the PESA (Panchayats ? Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act.
The bullet train will run through the suburbs of Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. According to records, 19 villages covered by the PESA Act and tribal-dominated had previously given their consent, said Sandip Pawar, the land acquisition officer for Palghar district. Thirty-one villages have agreed to give up their land so far. Ten people continue to oppose the project, and the company is in talks with them. They will either resolve their claims or purchase land directly. Nearly 85% of the land required for the project has been acquired or is in the process of being acquired, according to the statement. Around 2,000 tenements are required for the project in Vasai, which are spread across several buildings and chawls. Certain structures will be demolished, according to Pawar, and tenants will be relocated to new homes. Collector Rajesh Narvekar of Thane announced that nearly 75 acres of land in the Thane and Bhiwandi talukas would be acquired. 42 acres of land have been taken with the permission and agreement of the owners. For the remaining land, there are family or boundary disputes. As of September 30th or early October, the remaining land will be taken over by the company that has paid the acquisition amount to the court.
