MoRTH to set up expert advisory group for road transport policies

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) aims to set up an expert group to advise it on drafting policies and strategies concerning road transport, comprising the automotive sector.
The expert advisory group (EAG) will comprise five members. It will advise the ministry on matters like strategising policy on the usage of alternative fuel, hydrogen fuel and biofuel, electric vehicles, vehicle emission standards and driverless vehicles.
It will additionally suggest the ministry on vehicle emission measures, central motor rules and regulations, design and safety of vehicles, and formation of rules for upgrades according to the European or international standards.
The members, to be chosen based on search-cum-selection, will have to be renowned in domains associated with the automotive and road transport sectors.
In a notice asking for an expression of interest from domain experts, MoRTH said that the domain experts would guarantee that there should be no conflict of interest in their engagement with EAG during the period. They should hold very high integrity and maintain confidentiality, MoRTH said in a notice asking expression of interest from domain experts.
