PM Modi likely to inaugurate Jewar airport by November end

The foundation stone for the Jewar International Airport is expected to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last week of November.

According to official sources, the PM and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony on November 25.

The airport is expected to open in September 2024, and it will be a major development project for residents of the NCR.

Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh said that the government's dream project is the Jewar Airport, and it's getting closer to becoming a reality. Due to a delay caused by Covid-19, the inauguration ceremony to kick off construction will now take place in the last week of November. Both the PM and the CM will be present. Thousands of people's lives will be changed as a result of this.

The Jewar airport was supposed to open in August, but it was delayed, according to officials.

Several formalities of the project had previously been delayed due to the pandemic, including important meetings with various stakeholders, according to officials.

Zurich International Airport AG is developing the Jewar Airport, which is spread over 5,000 hectares and is expected to cost Rs 29,560 crore. A concessionaire agreement with the state government was signed after the Swiss Airport company won the bid in November 2019.

The land lease for the Jewar Airport was signed for 90 years in July of this year, allowing construction to begin. The airport developer Zurich International Airport AG, Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), and NIAL also signed a shareholder agreement. YIAPL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport, while NIAL was established by the state government as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for project execution.

NIAL is currently reviewing a development proposal submitted by the Zurich Airport company. Work is progressing as planned, according to officials.
