PM Modi to inaugurate Kanpur Metro Rail Services

PM Modi will most likely inaugurate Kanpur Metro Rail Services on 28 December 2021. The District Magistrate Vishakh G asked to submit the project details along with the IIT-Kanpur convocation by Additional Chief Secretary, UP, Avinash Awasthi.

A confirmation regarding the prime minister attending the convocation ceremony of IIT-Kanpur and inaugurating Kanpur Metro Rail Services on December 28 was given in the letter.

The letter also addressed the Commissioner, Kanpur Division, Sanjay Bhavsar, Managing Director, UP Metro Rail Corporation, Kumar Keshav, and Director, IIT-Kanpur. On December 15 a team of commissioners will do a final inspection before the visit of the prime minister.

The 9 km stretch between IIT-Kanpur and Motijheel will be the first phase of metro services. Transport Nagar to Motijheel will be the second phase. The train was flagged by Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath, last month between the Indian Institute of Technology and Geeta Nagar Crossing. The services for the general public will begin by the end of the month, the Metro officials said.
