Tamil Nadu CM announces Rs 1,242 cr infrastructure projects

Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin has announced Rs 1,242 crore infrastructure schemes for Salem district, comprising an underground drainage system, additional drinking water supply facilities, a flyover and a textile park.

Inaugurating various achieved projects, distributing welfare help to beneficiaries and laying the foundation stone for new initiatives, all worth more than Rs 261 crore, Stalin told the media that he would visit the district again and again and continue to observe all the initiatives.

Two state-wide schemes, 'Nammakku Naame Thittam (NNT) and 'Nagarpura Velai Vaippu Thittam (NVVT), were launched by the CM.

The information on initiatives at an evaluated cost of more than Rs 1,000 crore comprises an underground sewerage system in Salem Corporation areas that do not have the facility for Rs 530 crore and are spread over approximately 520 km.

For Rs 158 crore, a programme would be undertaken for guaranteeing the uninterrupted supply of drinking water, comprising work for additional drinking water supply, Stalin said in his address at a state event conducted at Seelanayakkanpatti here.

The announcements included the development of lakes, a rail-over-bridge at Ammapettai, a sports stadium and the advancement of roads.

An integrated textile park will soon roll out in Salem for industrial development and for generating more job opportunities. A software park will also be installed at Karupur. It is the first phase, a beginning, and many more schemes are fixed to come up in a phased manner.

The Chief Minister told the media that the goal is uniform growth across the state, and certain schemes were being executed in all the districts, he said and registered projects executed by the earlier regimes directed by his party, covering the Salem Steel Plant.
