Construction activities in Kolhapur city to restart soon

Construction activities in Kolhapur city will soon restart after years. The town planning authority of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) received 1,468 building proposals, from which many are cleared, while the remaining are in the final stage of clearance.

Earlier, KMC did not receive so many building proposals and layout sanctions. Last year in December, the town planning department of Kolhapur had suppressed its annual revenue target to rs 44 crore.

Currently, the revenue earned from building permissions and layout sanctions is Rs 45 crore, and by the end of this financial year, the town planning department might receive Rs 10-15 crore more.

The department said that the relief from the Covid-19 pandemic situations and the relaxations given under the Unified Development Control Rules (U-DCR) had made the promoters and the owners take up the construction work again.

The authorities have said that more plots are becoming available for construction activities in Kolhapur city.

The plots layout of sizes from six to eight acres are being granted permission from the authority.

The deputy town planner of KMC, Ramesh Mhaskar, said that bungalow construction is still prevailing in Kolhapur. These huge layouts will allow the people to construct their houses. More tenements would be available for sale in about 1.5 years after granting permissions.
