Gujarat government to revise CGDCR to remove ambiguity

The Gujarat government has initiated action to revise the common general development and control regulations (CGDCR) to remove ambiguity in different policies concerning urban development.

There is much ambiguity in policies relating to hotels and hospitals, housing redevelopment, and development plans of various cities. All these factors have been straining real estate development in Gujarat.

Considering representations from different sectors, the urban development department has started the process to revise the CGDCR and bring all norms, policies, and GDCR at par. Besides, other real estate associations' demands are also being considered.

Sources said there are many ambiguities in the hospital policy and CGDCR at present, which has been hurting the development of the health sector in Gujarat.

Different medical bodies have been demanding the government remove contradictory provisions which adversely affect new projects in Gujarat in the hospital segment. Likewise, other sectors have also requested amendments in the CGDCR.

Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI) is the apex body of the real estate sector, has given several representations for revision in the CGDRC, which will promote the real estate development and employment in the state.
