Expansion work on Srinagar Airport hits roadblock

The much-awaited expansion of the terminal building at the Srinagar International Airport has hit a roadblock with administrative delays.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials told the media that work on the airport expansion, which was scheduled to begin anytime at the end of this year, has got further postponed.

The official told the media that there are some procedural and administrative delays due to which the expansion work of the terminal is getting further delayed.

The expansion of the terminal at the Srinagar Airport, which is the need of the hour at present as passenger footfall has witnessed a sharp spike of late is observing delay. While the airport used to cater to passenger footfall between 8,000 to 10,000 on an average, the footfall has witnessed a spurt of late, owing to the tourist hustle, the airport witnesses around 16,000 to 18,000 passengers footfalls every day.
