The Union finance ministry has sanctioned the ambitious proposal of the Uttarakhand government for the holistic development of Tehri Lake and its catchment region with the support of multilateral development banks.
The Uttarakhand government will get financial aid from BRICS Development Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the project.
Under this project, Tiwari village, Koti Colony, New Tehri, Tehri Lake, Dobra Chanti, and Madan Negi area will be developed as clusters. Besides, facilities like water sports centres at four places in Tehri Lake, tent colony construction, tourism road construction from Koti Colony to Dobra-Chanti, homestay clusters construction, Dobra Chanti park, multi-level car parking, entertainment complex, aquatic complex, integrated information centre (IIC), 3-star boutique hotel, bio-diversity park, ropeway construction, yoga & panchakarma centre, a massive plantation in the coastal region and light & sound laser show have been proposed under the project.
