Tata Projects begins runway construction at Jewar airport

According to local legislator Dhirendra Singh, the first flight from the proposed international airport is expected to take off in 2024, before the next parliamentary elections.
“The work is going on at a fast pace and we will see the first flight take off by early 2024. Land acquisition for the next phase of the airport is going on smoothly,” said Singh.
Once completed, this airport will not only become India’s largest and the world’s fourth-largest airport but also Asia-Pacific’s largest transit hub.
“A transit hub is a specialised airport for passenger and cargo management for connecting flights. Once completed, this airport will be Asia-Pacific’s largest such airport. This means there will be a boom in the warehousing sector across Jewar, Greater Noida, Noida and nearby areas, and it will result in the creation of thousands of jobs,” Singh said.
Aside from these, an airplane maintenance centre is proposed for the airport site. The centre will be India's first and only aircraft servicing facility, saving crores of Indian rupees that are currently paid to foreign nations for aircraft repair and maintenance.
