India to supply diesel and gas to Sri Lanka

Continuing its offer of aid, India will send two ships each of diesel and gasoline to Sri Lanka, which is currently suffering from a severe fuel scarcity. Two ships are anticipated in Sri Lanka between July 13 and 15 and July 29 and 31.

Following recent conversations between Hardeep Singh Puri, minister of petroleum and natural gas, and Milinda Moragoda, Sri Lanka's high commissioner to India, the decision to deliver gasoline was made. Puri was informed by Moragoda about Sri Lanka's pressing energy needs.

Over the last three months, Sri Lanka has received more than 400,000 tonnes of petroleum from India.

According to the high commission, Moragoda and Puri addressed ways that India and Sri Lanka may continue to increase their collaboration in the petroleum industry to help resolve the present problem. They also discussed forging long-term connections in the oil, gas, and associated supply industries.

Until a fresh supply arrives, Sri Lanka's present diesel supplies will only be utilised for vital services.
