North Central Railway sees 21.3% originating freight loading growth

North Central Railway (NCR) reported a 21.3 percent increase in originating freight loading at the end of the first quarter of fiscal year 2022-23. From April to June 2022, NCR loaded 5.24 million tonnes of cargo, breaking all previous records. This is NCR's best quarter-ending figure since its inception in 2003. In the previous year's corresponding period, a freight loading of 4.32 million tonnes was reportedly achieved. In June 2022 alone, NCR achieved 1.81 mt of loading, the best ever loading performance by NCR in a single month. This generated Rs. 1.81 billion in revenue. During the first three months, the origination freight revenue remained at Rs. 5.28 billion, which is 20.53 per cent more than the originating freight earning of Rs. 4.38 billion recorded in the first quarter of the previous financial year.
