Liebherr to Export Next-Generation Wheel Loaders to America

Liebherr is introducing three modernized mid-sized wheel loaders from generation 8 to the United States, namely the L 526, L 538, and L 546, which will have more power, faster cycle times, and new technology. The L 546 will be on display at the Bauma show in Germany in October, along with new lift arms that will provide a 20% increase in breakout force over previous models.

Liebherr has improved its hydraulics and structural reinforcements in the new lift arms Z-bar linkage, with longer lift arms dumping over heights and larger buckets. Furthermore, the newly integrated technology includes a more powerful engine, a lower torque speed, superior digging power, and a fuel-saving hydrostatic drive. Liebherr affirms that by including active personal detection technology into the design, the loader will automatically slow down and come to a stop, assisting the machine operator in preventing accidents and being vigilant.

While operating large attachments, the Skyview 360-degree camera system with front space monitoring will prove useful. It has also implemented automatic engine braking in travel drive to reduce brake wear, as well as continued tractive force control with a limited slip differential to prevent wheel slip and reduce tire wear. A hydraulic quick coupler with an integrated, automatic third and fourth hydraulic circuit, available as an option, allows for attachment changes from the cab and the new loaders come with a year of free LiDAT, Liebherr's telematics system.

These loaders employ diesel particulate filters, diesel oxidation catalysts, and selective catalytic reduction for after treatment with horsepower ranging from 156 to 185, depending on the model, and are powered by Tier 4 Final engines.

The cab has an adjustable steering wheel, a vibration-dampening seat, and various storage areas. The hood and windows have been designed to improve visibility. A joystick steering system is available as an option, and the loader can be ordered without a steering wheel.
