Chandigarh government will auction off land for SCOs for Rs 1,200 crore.

In lieu of the previously proposed plan to auction off a sizable portion of land to private parties for the development of a shopping mall, the UT administration has decided to auction off individual units, including shop cum offices (SCOs), in the vacant land in sectors 52 and 56 worth Rs 1,200 crore.

The UT administration would use 25 acres of land in Sectors 52 and 56 to create banquet halls and green belts in addition to commercial areas with SCOs. This project will cost Rs 1,200 crore. Dharam Pal, a UT advisor, requested an urban planning department proposal for the use of the area last year.
