Punjab to focus on solar-powered water schemes

Punjab is reportedly going to expedite the process of setting up solar-powered water supply schemes. While chairing a review meeting of the water supply and sanitation department, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reportedly stated that the move will go a long way toward conserving power on the one hand and maintaining regular water delivery in the villages on the other. The department has been considering installing solar-powered programmes in 1,508 villages to attain sustainability and self-sufficiency at a cost of Rs 605 million.
