BJP advocates for a Sambalpur-Cuttack highway expansion in Odisha

A BJP delegation met with senior NHAI officials and demanded that the 265-kilometre expansion project of the Sambalpur-Cuttack highway be finished as soon as possible.

The project was supposed to be finished in 2020, but that deadline has been pushed back by about two years. The 112-km Cutack-Angul segment received approval from the cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) for four-laning in September 2015 at an estimated cost of Rs 15.76 billion, and the 153-km Sambalpur-Angul portion received approval in June 2016 at an estimated cost of Rs 24.91 bn.

Accidents happen frequently as a result of the expansion project's delay and the road's neglect.

The rain has rendered the road impassable to motor vehicles, which has put commuters through a great deal of hardship.
