Rhenus expands its presence in Indian logistics industry

The Rhenus Group, as a global logistics service provider, has expanded its warehousing footprint by launching two new multi-user chemical warehouses in Jamalpur (Gurugram) and Bhiwandi (Mumbai). Rhenus is also proud to introduce their very own building, Rhenus Tower, located at the centre of the logistics hub in Mumbai-Andheri.

The announcement about the expansion of Rhenus warehousing facilities in India to up to 2.4 million square feet follows a period of sustained growth for Rhenus. Currently, Rhenus India has 31 fully compliant and certified warehouses strategically located across India with more than 2.4 million sq ft of warehousing space, including both dedicated and multi-user facilities. The new storage solutions include a heavy-duty selective pallet racking system for customised storage, shelving systems for smaller / spare parts, an automated vertical lean storage system for the safe and optimised storage of products as well as temperature-controlled / cold-room storage facilities.

The brand-new warehouse in Bhiwandi (Mumbai) opens on 301,000 square feet, with 32,000 pallet positions with a load capacity of 1.1 tons per pallet, and houses 20 docks.

The upcoming multi-user chemical warehouse in Jamalpur (Gurugram) is equipped to handle 18,000 pallet positions with a load capacity of 1.1 tons per pallet and houses 19 docks with top-of-the-class infrastructure, such as automated roller shutters and hydraulic dock levelers. It also exclusively provides block space for flammable chemicals.

These facilities have received operation approval from the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCoE) and the Pollution Control Board. Dedicated fire detection and management facilities and a 24/7 CCTV monitoring system provide customers with peace of mind for their cargo.

“Enhancing our logistics services in India, we are taking an important next step in continuing to grow along with the market demand and achieving excellence in operation, sales and digitalisation,” says Tobias Bartz, CEO and Chairman of the Rhenus Group. “In the last few years, Rhenus has expanded its footprint across all continents spanning the APAC region, the Americas and Europe. Logistics in India has a very bright future with its growth forecast of 10.5 per cent by 2025 and a lot to be achieved. We will continue to build on the back of this sustainable support and create impact in this region, leveraging sustainable solutions and keeping customer experience at the core of our efforts.”

Introducing Rhenus Tower
Rhenus India has more than 2,000 employees and 70 offices in India. Now the company is also represented with its own building “Rhenus Tower” in a modern Western architectural style in the centre of the Mumbai logistics hub, Andheri.

Its Rhenus Tower presence in the heart of the city with proximity to the International Airport and the metro makes it a perfect strategic business location. The office building came into existence in its reformed look in the year 2012 and became operational in 2014. The newest addition are its spacious conference rooms, as well as interior planning, which allows for all departments of Rhenus India, namely Air and Ocean, Customs Brokerage, Road Freight and Contract Logistics, to operate from different floors in Rhenus Tower.

“With Rhenus Tower, we are well equipped to cope with the developments of our continuous growth. In this lighthouse of Mumbai logistics, we aim to provide end-to-end forward-looking solutions to our customers and integrate our services as per our customers’ needs. The cornerstones of this process are digital excellence, HR excellence, operational excellence and sales excellence with customer centricity at the core,” states Vivek Arya, Managing Director of Rhenus India.
