Supertech twin towers to be demolished on August 28

Explosives are said to have been installed in the smaller of Supertech's twin towers in Noida, which is scheduled for demolition on August 28. Edifice Engineering, the company in charge of demolishing the 40-story towers, will now finish repairing explosives in Apex, the taller of the two structures.

The Supreme Court had previously scheduled the demolition of Supertech twin towers in its Emerald project in Noida for August 28. It also extended the deadline until September 4 in the event of technical or weather delays.

The 103-m-tall Supertech towers -- Ceyanne and Apex -- will be counted among the tallest buildings ever to be demolished in a controlled explosion.

While the controlled explosion itself will take only a few seconds, the dust cloud it will expel is expected to settle within a few minutes. Traffic in the area will be diverted for an hour and a half on the day of the blast.
