Runway planned at logistics park near Sangli by NHAI

NHAI has identified land for a logistics centre in Ranjani, near Sangli, and is constructing a road to the logistics park that will serve as a runway. Airplanes can take off from this stretch, which is also used as a road when there are no flights. Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, and Shirdi already have airports. Shirdi is the state's second busiest airport, after Pune. 35 multi-modal logistics parks, including five in Maharashtra, are planned as part of the Bharatmala project. Gadkari is promoting logistic parks near highways as a means of boosting the country's economy.
