Sanjay Prasad takes over departments held by Awanish Awasthi

Awanish Kumar Awasthi, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), retired on Wednesday.

According to a state government spokeswoman, Sanjay Prasad, the chief minister's principal secretary, has been granted additional control of all departments held by Awasthi.

Awasthi was in charge of the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), energy, religious affairs, jail administration and reforms, vigilance department, confidential and visa passport departments, in addition to the home department.

Awasthi returned from central deputation in April 2017 and was appointed additional chief secretary, information, tourism, religious affairs, and UPEIDA CEO.
