77 Delhi roads to be made traffic-free: Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, examined the different ongoing and prospective projects on 77 road stretches throughout the city and stated that the project's completion is essential to making Delhi a livable city and clearing high traffic intensity route corridors.

To relieve Delhi residents of traffic jams, we will revamp the roadways and build flyovers, underpasses, and foot overbridges. The project will be carried out in stages, starting with the decongestion of areas with high traffic densities. We think this would be an important step in making Delhi the most livable city, announced Kejriwal.

The Outer Ring Road, Najafgarh Road, Wazirabad Road, Rohtak Road, and Anand Vihar-Apsara Border Road all have numerous congestion points.

A task team organised by the LG selected 77 road corridors in Delhi in February 2017 for the implementation of various solutions to relieve acute traffic congestion. On the basis of the number of road users, the task force divided the 77 congested routes into categories A, B, and C. The project is still moving slowly, though.
