SER clocks nearly 27% growth in coal loading
The South Eastern Railway (SER) increased coal loading by roughly 27% in the first five months of the fiscal year 2022-23. The revenue generated by SER from "originating freight" loading climbed to Rs 70.39 billion during the April-August period of the 2022-23 fiscal year (FY23), up from Rs 66.46 billion in the same period last fiscal.According to the official, the Kolkata-based zonal railway loaded 81.83 million tonne of "originating freight" in the first five months of FY23, with coal accounting for 21.10 million tonne. This is 26.65% more than the SER's coal loading during the same period previous year.
The main commodities of freight loading, apart from coal, are iron ore, pig iron, finished steel, cement and petroleum products.
