Indore, Mhow coach depots get GreenCo silver certification

The coaching depots of Indore and Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) stations are the first in the country to get the prestigious CII GreenCo certification, a release issued by the Ratlam division said.

The GreenCo certification or rating is provided by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) after evaluating green features of companies against ten rating performance parameters including energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy, waste management, green building features, and others, and has five different levels of certification starting from being certified to bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

Khemraj Meena, a railway spokesman with the division, said that many initiatives taken on both the depots were inspected by CII Green Building Team’s officials and checked all the parameters including solar plant, ETP, decrease in greenhouse gas emission, natural lighting, turbo ventilation, rainwater harvesting, waste management, saving of electricity and water etc.

“To get the certification, both the depots paid special attention on power and water conservation along with garbage management,” added Meena.
