Tata Power plans to set up substations in Mumbai highrises

After experimenting with a first-of-its-kind substation on the 44th floor of a highrise in Lower Parel in 2018, Tata Power has announced plans to scale this high-floor substation and multi-floor metering initiative to four to five locations in Mumbai soon. According to sources, the areas with highrises where such substations will be built are Worli on the island city and Borivli, Andheri, Dahisar, and Malad in the suburbs. The next one will be on the 25th floor of a building. At a time when Mumbai is growing vertically and space is limited, this appeared to be a viable solution, said the company reportedly.
