Sisodia promises upgrade of five major Delhi roads

Five roads in North and Northwest Delhi will get an upgrade soon as Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the Public Works Department (PWD) portfolio, has approved these projects. The roads are Nand Lal Marg, Link Road, Swami Narayan Marg, Pratap Nagar Road and Shah Alam Dam Road, which come under the Adarsh Nagar constituency.

Development of these roads is expected to improve the connectivity from residential areas to main roads in several stretches, including Wazirpur, Motinagar and Shalimar Bagh. The development of these roads would benefit adjacent roads too.

According to a statement issued by the government, Sisodia approved Rs 113.60 million for the strengthening and beautification of the five roads with a cumulative length of 7.78 km. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the government is working in a mission mode to strengthen and beautify the roads of Delhi to make them safe and world-class,” it said.

Addressing the media this week, Sisodia said that the state of roads in the national capital will be improved significantly by using various advanced technologies. “As the roads in these areas were built a long time back, they have now developed cracks on their upper surface, due to which the movement of vehicles has been blocked in many places,” Sisodia said. He added the government is preparing blueprints to make Delhi roads stronger and safer.
