Birla Corporation intends to up production by 50 per cent

The main company of the MP Birla Group, Birla Corporation Ltd, is putting in place a $1 billion plan to increase its cement production capacity by 50 per cent. A new grinding unit and the debottlenecking procedure should increase 2Mt of capacity. Another 4mt of additional capacity may be accounted for by the brownfield development at Maihar in the Satna area of Madhya Pradesh. According to Harsh Vardhan Lodha, Chairman, BCL, the new facility will probably be built in Chhattisgarh. He stressed that the choice is not final and that the business has some time to make the change
