NSSCDCL forecloses Shapoorji Pallonji’s contract of Smart City

In a major development, Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation (NSSCDCL) while rejecting the claim of damages sought by M/s Shapoorji and Pallonji, the Board of Directors decided to foreclose its Rs 6.30 billion contract for Smart City. A meeting of board of directors of NSSCDCL was held at Smart City office in Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

A communique from NSSCDCL stated that the decision about foreclosure of the contract had approval from the special purpose vehicle of Shapoorji and Pallonji saying the company failed to complete the work within extended time-frame upto June 30, 2022, albeit post payment of compensation of Rs 152.5 million as against claim of Rs 4.48 billion.

M/s Shapoorji Pallonji Company was awarded work for design and construction of roads, bridges, culverts, sidewalks, and MEP works, PHE works including associated civil works on Tender Sure concepts in Area Based Development Area in East Nagpur. The total cost of the project was envisaged to be around Rs 6.50 billion.
