South Central Railway commissioned 221-km long railway line
A major 221 km long rail line doubling and electrification project has been started by the South Central Railway (SCR) to support aquaculture and agriculture in the coastal region of the state. The electrification of the last 32.8 km of rail line between Aravalli and Nidadavolu was put into operation, bringing the eight-year-old project to an end. The crucial Gudivada-Machilipatnam, Narsapur-Nidadavolu doubling and electrification, Vijayawada-Gudivada-Bhimavaram-Narasapuram electrification, and project were approved in 2011–12 for a total of Rs 30 billion.The project was completed by Rail Vikas Nigam in five stages. Trains with electric traction will be able to run end-to-end on these routes thanks to the doubling and electrification. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, referred to it as a "very vital project" and said that its completion represented yet another significant turning point in the growth of the coastal region's railway network.
